Hello Nickel Belt constituents! MP Marc Serré has been busy at work in Nickel Belt- Greater Sudbury! July was filled with many community events, strengthened engagement with constituents and positive funding announcements. Here’s a synopsis of what occurred in July:

Important news on the Hill:

– MP Serré travelled to Sault Ste Marie to participate in the Northern Ontario Rural Caucus meetings

MP Serré was out and about participating in various events:

– MP Serré travelled far and wide across the riding to visit the communities of St.-Charles, Alban, Markstay-Warren, Capreol, Coniston and West Nipissing to celebrate Canada’s 152nd birthday
– MP Serré visited the Stanley Cup brought to Levack by David Taylor who played as a Levack Huskie long before his legendary NHL career
– MP Serré toured the West Nipissing food bank and discovered their Food Rescue Program that supports the community
– MP Serré participated in Pride Sudbury’s Parade
– MP Serré met with Jo-Anne Palkovits President CEO of St. Joseph’s Villa/ St. Joseph Continuing Care and Administrator of St Gabriel Villa to talk about ways to fill much needed PSW positions in Nickel Belt- Greater Sudbury
– MP Serré met Tracey Marcotte, President of Local 00042, and Darcey Dupuis on how they maintain and advance the workplace rights of their members with strategic bargaining
– MP Serré met with Derek Young, Operations Manager and Robert Michelutti, Vice President on the bright future ahead with the creation of new programs and activities at the Northern Ontario RailRoad Museum and Heritage Centre
– MP Serré participated in the 2nd annual Butterfly Release honouring his father Gaëtan Serré’s life
– MP Serré hosted the Honourable Ginette Petitspas, Minister of Heather Taylor in Nickel Belt – Greater Sudbury where they toured the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, visited Health Sciences North, visited St-Gabriel Villa in Chelmsford and hosted two round tables to discuss Northern Ontario health related concerns and priorities
– MP Serré visited the Vale mine tailings to learn more about their risk management and safety procedures
– MP Serré participated in the The Hugel Township Lake Property Owners’ (Deer Lake) Association AGM

MP Serré announced positive news and funding that will benefit Nickel Belt:

– MP Serré shared Dr. Kevin McCormick’s appointment to the National Seniors Council

– MP Serré announced the increase in the monthly CCB benefit, increasing the average payment to $540 a month for over 15,000 families in Nickel Belt – Greater Sudbury

– MP Serré celebrated a local CanCode program milestone that helped over 3100 students in Nickel Belt – Greater Sudbury receive digital skills training

– MP Serré announced $28.8 million in funding to support Domtar in commercializing their new fibres to reduce single use plastic waste
