MP Serré joins rural MPs from across Canada to meet, set priorities for the upcoming Fall parliamentary session, August 27th-29th

NICKEL BELT/GREATER SUDBURY – Marc Serré, Member of Parliament for Nickel Belt, made the following statement after the conclusion of scheduled events yesterday evening:
“I’m very pleased that Liberal MPs from rural communities across the country are able to gather in New Brunswick this week to organize and set priorities for the upcoming fall parliamentary session, and I would like to thank my colleague TJ Harvey and the beautiful riding of Tobique—Mactaquac that he represents for their amazing hospitality.
Our priority as National Liberal Rural Caucus is to represent the interests of rural Canadians from across the country, and to convey and reinforce these interests in our work with members of the Cabinet as well as the Prime Minister. While rural communities across Canada face similar challenges and opportunities, my top priority is to discuss with my colleagues some of the unique challenges facing small rural communities and businesses in Northern Ontario and to work with them on finding solutions that can be applied throughout rural Canada.
Over the course of this meeting I plan on discussing with my colleagues the need to greatly improve access to high-speed broadband internet in small, rural, and Indigenous communities in Northern Ontario, improving access to public transit and making it more affordable, improving access to affordable housing and care, particularly for seniors, and where we can look for new opportunities to grow the economy, just to name a few priorities,” said Serré.
